Shopify migration and replatforming
Moving a store to Shopify, or to a new theme, without losing what works.
In short
Lintel migrates stores to Shopify from other platforms, and moves existing Shopify stores to new themes, without losing what already works. We plan the data, the URLs and redirects, and the custom features that need to be rebuilt, so products, customers, orders and search visibility carry over.
Who it is for
Merchants moving from WooCommerce, Magento, a custom platform or another hosted platform to Shopify, and Shopify stores replacing an old or heavily customized theme.
What a migration covers
- Data: products, variants, customers, orders and content, mapped to Shopify’s data model and checked after import.
- URLs and redirects: every important old URL redirected to its new equivalent, so links and search visibility are preserved.
- Custom features: rebuilding what the old platform did with Shopify apps, Functions or theme code. See custom Shopify apps and Shopify Functions.
- Integrations with the systems the old store was connected to. See API integrations.
How we plan it
- Inventory the current store: data, URLs, features and integrations.
- Map each piece to its Shopify equivalent, and flag what needs custom work.
- Migrate and test on a copy before launch, including redirects.
- Launch with monitoring, and check indexing and redirects afterwards.

Questions
- Will we lose our search rankings?
- A migration is a risk to search traffic if URLs change without redirects. Mapping and redirecting old URLs is the most important step for keeping visibility.
- Can you migrate customer passwords?
- Passwords usually can’t be moved between platforms, so customers are typically invited to activate their accounts after the move. We plan that communication with you.
- How long does a migration take?
- It depends on the data and custom features involved. We scope it after seeing the current store.
