Selling on Shopify in the UAE: what the build has to handle

• Arabic and right-to-left layout. Shopify can sell in Arabic. Its latest Horizon themes support right-to-left languages, and other themes should be checked first so the layout is correct. With English and Arabic side by side, the theme has to switch direction per language. That is theme engineering we scope per store.
• Prices in AED. Shopify’s international selling tools let one store serve different countries with their own currency, language and domain settings. The theme then has to show the right prices and content for each market.
• Payments. Shopify Payments is available for stores in the United Arab Emirates. Other payment methods, such as buy-now-pay-later providers, are added as apps; which ones a store needs is decided per project.
• VAT. The UAE introduced VAT on 1 January 2018 at a standard rate of 5%. Prices, tax settings and invoices have to reflect it: your accountant decides the tax treatment, and we set up the store to match.

Websites and apps for the UAE market

The same questions apply outside Shopify: English and Arabic content with right-to-left layout, pages that load quickly on mobile connections, and forms and integrations that feed your CRM or back office. We plan these in the first review instead of adding them at the end.

How working remotely with Lintel works

• Time zones. Lintel works from Ankara (UTC+3). Dubai is on UTC+4, one hour ahead, and neither changes its clocks, so most of the working day overlaps.
• Language. We work in English and Turkish. We don’t write Arabic copy ourselves: Arabic content comes from you or your translator, and we build the site to handle it.
