Transom guide
Shopify theme with three presets for home, beauty and fashion stores, built-in bundles, quantity breaks and cart goals. Its guide and AI skill let an assistant set up and update your store for you.
Transom is an Online Store 2.0 theme for Shopify stores that want to sell more per order without installing a pile of apps. It ships with quantity breaks, a bundle builder, "frequently bought together", cart reward goals, a cart upsell, sticky add to cart, quick view, and a set of page-building sections. Everything runs on lightweight code that loads only when a shopper needs it.
This guide is written for store owners. You do not need to know how to code. If you can use the Shopify theme editor, you can use everything described here.
Use Transom with AI tools
Transom is built so you can run your store by asking an AI assistant instead of clicking through every screen. Give the assistant this guide and it can:
- answer "how do I…" questions with the exact setting names,
- rearrange sections, change colors, fonts and layouts in an unpublished copy of your theme for you to preview,
- create the metafields Transom reads and fill them in from your product details,
- set up quantity breaks, bundles and cart goals, and list the Shopify discounts you need to create.
You stay in charge: the assistant works on a copy, and nothing goes live until you preview it and publish it yourself. Making changes needs an assistant that can run the Shopify CLI or reach your store's Admin API; any assistant can answer questions.
- Download the Transom skill: transom-theme-skill.zip. It holds this whole guide plus instructions the assistant follows, including safety rules such as never changing your live theme.
- Or copy one page: every guide page has Copy as Markdown at the top.
Install the skill:
| Tool | How |
|---|---|
| Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app) | Go to Settings > Capabilities, make sure code execution is on, then under Skills select Upload skill and choose the zip. |
| Claude Code | Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or into .claude/skills/ in your theme folder, so the file ends up at .claude/skills/transom-theme/SKILL.md. |
| Other tools that read Agent Skills | Unzip the transom-theme folder where the tool loads skills from. Its documentation says where. |
| Tools without skills, such as ChatGPT | Give them https://lintelagency.com/support/transom/llms-full.txt instead. |
Then ask in plain words, for example "Using the Transom skill, set up quantity breaks for my mugs." The skill matches one Transom version: after you update the theme, download it again and replace the old copy. Set up with AI and the CLI explains how an assistant can edit your theme files safely.
What you get
- Selling tools built in. Quantity breaks, bundle builder, frequently bought together, cart goals, cart upsell, gift wrapping, and a trust strip. See Sell more.
- Six product page templates. A clean default plus landing, bundle, furniture, editorial, and lighting layouts. See Product pages.
- A full set of sections. Slideshow, image banner, shoppable image, timeline, comparison table, product finder, testimonials, and more. See Sections.
- Honest by design. The theme never invents urgency or savings. Countdown timers use a real end date and disappear when it passes. Stock messages come from your real inventory. Any discount percent the theme shows must match a real automatic discount that you create in Shopify.
- Three presets. Start from the look that fits your catalog.
- Nine languages. English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, and Japanese.
- 3D models and AR. Add a 3D model to a product and shoppers can rotate it and, on supported phones, view it in their space.
The three presets
A preset is a ready-made style. It sets the colors, fonts, corner shapes, cart type, and cart reward goals. You can change any of these afterward.
| Preset | Best for | Look |
|---|---|---|
| Transom | Home and living | Warm paper and ink colors, a bold sans-serif font (Inter), square corners, a slide-in cart drawer. |
| Plinth | Beauty and skincare | Soft blush and deep plum colors, a serif heading font (Playfair Display) with DM Sans body text, large rounded buttons and cards, a slide-in cart drawer. |
| Mullion | Fashion and apparel | Cool stone and forest green with a gold accent, uppercase Work Sans headings, slightly rounded corners, a cart that opens as a centered popup. |
Each preset includes four color schemes (paper, ink, white, and signal) so you can alternate light and dark sections on a page. See Getting started for what each setting does.
Each preset also comes with its own sample cart reward goals (for example "Free shipping"). Those are only placeholders. Before you launch, set the amounts to match real discounts or shipping rates in your store. See Sell more.
Install the theme
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
- Add Transom from the Shopify Theme Store, choosing the preset you want. The theme appears in your theme library as an unpublished theme.
- Select Customize next to the theme to open the theme editor.
- Use the preview to check your pages. When you are happy, select Publish from the theme's actions menu.
Tip: Work on the unpublished copy and publish only when you are ready. Your live store keeps running on your current theme until then.
Choose or switch a preset
You pick a preset when you add the theme from the Theme Store. You can also switch later from the theme editor, using the preset (style) picker in the theme settings panel.
Before you switch:
- Duplicate your theme first (Online Store > Themes > ... > Duplicate) so you have a backup.
- Know that switching presets replaces the theme settings with the preset's values (colors, fonts, shapes, cart goals). Content you added to pages may also change. Re-check your pages afterward.

Getting help
If something does not look right, check the FAQ first. Most questions are about discounts not applying, fonts, translations, and 3D models, and each has a short answer there.
