Shopify theme development and engineering
A theme that limits merchandising, product pages or how the catalog can be browsed.
In short
Lintel engineers Shopify themes: custom sections, templates and features built into your Liquid theme, so the store can present its products the way it sells them, without rebuilding the store. We build on Liquid by default and recommend headless only when it pays for itself.
What we build
- Custom sections and templates for products that don’t fit a stock layout, editable in the theme editor.
- Metafield and metaobject models so product specs and structured content live in the admin and feed the theme, not hard-coded text.
- Collection and navigation structures for large catalogs.
- Online Store 2.0 upgrades that move vintage Liquid templates to JSON templates and sections.
- Theme-level performance work on the code, images and scripts the theme controls.
Why Online Store 2.0 matters here
Online Store 2.0 themes use JSON templates, which let merchants add, remove and reorder sections on most pages in the theme editor, and connect theme settings to metafields as dynamic sources. Good theme engineering builds on that, so your team can change pages without a developer. Upgrading isn’t mandatory: a vintage theme can keep working if it meets your needs.

Lintel’s founder has worked on more than 65 Shopify stores since 2019, including Liquid theme work at Transfer Kingdom and 25 more stores shown as founder history. See the work. That work belongs to its owners and is not presented as Lintel client work.

Questions
- Do I need a new theme, or can the current one be customized?
- Usually the current theme can be extended with custom sections and templates. A rebuild is only worth it when the theme’s structure itself is the problem.
- Do I have to upgrade to Online Store 2.0?
- No. Shopify says upgrading isn’t mandatory and a vintage theme can keep working if it meets your needs. Online Store 2.0 adds sections on most pages and metafield-driven settings.
- Should we go headless instead?
- Only if it pays for itself. We build on Liquid by default and recommend headless when a Liquid theme can’t deliver what the store needs.
