This is the sold-by-weight problem. When nearly every product comes in several bag sizes, a dropdown hides what each size costs. The pattern puts weights on the page as visible options, updates the price for each bag live, and pairs it with a cart that shows the distance to free shipping. Sarah’s Candy Factory is the worked example, with Turkish kadayif sweets, vegan marshmallows and melting wafers usually offered in bags of 1, 2, 2.5 or 5 pounds across 8 candy categories. Gencer reworked the product template around those weights, gave bulk buyers filterable category collections, and put progress toward the $30 threshold in a cart drawer.
The problem
With weight options on almost every item and 8 overlapping categories, the price of a given bag was easy to lose track of.
The storefront pattern
- Weight and bag-size choices shown openly, with the price updating for each bag
- Eight category collections: best sellers, hard candy, toppings, nuts, Turkish sweets, chocolates, gummies and marshmallows
- A cart drawer that shows how far the order is from free shipping
- Mobile layouts that handle the image-heavy candy photos
