Some stores sell a single kind of object into many gifting situations. The buyer wants a wedding present, a housewarming gift or something for a real estate closing, not a product type. The pattern is occasion- and recipient-based collections, plus product pages that make personalization concrete before payment. Tayfus, which engraves photo frames, coasters, state maps and wood grill boards, is the example. Gencer cut the collections by occasion and by who the gift is for, pointed the homepage at those moments, moved the inputs for name, date and design to the front of product templates with a preview, and gave the secondary lines separate merchandising within one theme.
The problem
A single engraved item had to fit dozens of gift contexts, and because the piece can’t be returned, buyers needed to trust the personalization before checkout.
The storefront pattern
- Liquid collections split two ways: by the occasion and by who receives the gift
- Product templates built around the engraving fields, with a preview of the personalization
- Distinct merchandising for photo frames, state maps and coasters
- Multiple currencies, with PayPal and Shop Pay offered at checkout
