Ready-to-assemble cabinetry is a catalog of look-alikes: units that differ in nothing but width, hinge side or configuration, bought as a set. The pattern is to sort units by type, state dimensions plainly on each product, and offer a small first purchase to lower the stakes. Tek Cabinets sells a Shaker Gray finish across sink, corner, wall and base units plus microwave bases, spice pull-outs and lazy susans, to interior designers, builders and homeowners. Gencer’s templates filter units by type, show dimensions and configuration per product, present a touch-up kit and sample door as an entry order, and bring designer consultations into the store. It runs in Spanish and English.
The problem
At a glance the cabinets are hard to tell apart, and a complete kitchen is a large commitment, so buyers had to match each unit exactly and see the finish before ordering.
